Cardboard that has been sitting in a freezing trailer or an unheated stockroom behaves differently from cardboard at room temperature. The fibers lose flexibility, and a crease that folds cleanly in July can crack along its length in January.

The fix costs nothing: let a delivery come up to room temperature before assembling it. Twenty-four hours in a heated space is usually enough. If your fulfillment runs to a schedule that cannot absorb that, tell us at quote stage and we will specify a board with better cold-crease performance.

That is convenient, because it is also the cheaper direction. A single-color design on a genuinely thick uncoated board typically costs less than a four-color design on a thin one, and it holds up better in a customer’s hand. The heavier-caliper cardboard cartons are the usual starting point for this brief.
